Interlate Research needed a three-minute explainer animation communicating how their technology helps mining operations prevent machinery failure and improve productivity. Their systems monitor equipment in real time across mine sites globally, feeding data back to a central control environment in Brisbane. The technology is impressive. It's also almost entirely invisible.
Mining technology is complex, data-driven, and invisible to audiences unfamiliar with operational processes. The challenge was to make highly technical infrastructure feel understandable without appearing simplistic. The story also involved global operations across Africa, Europe, and Asia, which meant visualising significant scale while keeping the communication focused and clear.
Rather than opening with technical diagrams, the narrative started with the real-world problem. Mining machinery fails. Downtime costs money. Prevention matters. Consequence first, explanation second. From there, the animation layered in how data nodes transmitted live performance information back to monitoring teams. Data pathways, machine monitoring, geographic movement, and predictive alerts were simplified into visual sequences audiences could follow quickly.
A clear, engaging explainer that gave Interlate a strong tool for business development conversations, helping mining audiences understand the value of predictive monitoring without needing a technical background to follow it.
