Queensland Fire and Rescue Service needed to bring more women into the ranks. New Word Order led the campaign strategy and brought us on as the production partner, responsible for the photography and visual assets that would carry the message across recruitment communications.
Recruitment photography for emergency services needs to balance strength with accessibility. The imagery needed to feel empowering without becoming staged or promotional, and had to avoid stereotypes so that representation felt genuine rather than symbolic. Production also needed to integrate seamlessly within an existing agency-led creative framework, which means making great work without going off-script.
We kept our focus entirely on producing visuals that supported the broader campaign. The shoot prioritised natural confidence over heavy styling. Lighting, framing, and composition were designed to make subjects look like they belonged in the role rather than performing for the camera. Some projects need full creative ownership. This one needed a specialist production partner who could deliver within someone else's framework, and that's exactly what we did.
The photography integrated seamlessly into the campaign rollout across digital, print, and recruitment communications, giving the agency strong and consistent visuals across every touchpoint.
